Nicholas B. Paumgarten

Mr. Paumgarten joined J.P. Morgan in 1992 to raise the first Corsair fund and served as Chairman of Corsair I and subsequently Corsair II. He is a member of the Investment Committee of Corsair II and participated in all of the Corsair funds' investments. From 1994 to 1999, Mr. Paumgarten also held a number of senior management positions in the Investment Banking Department of J.P. Morgan, including Co-Head of the Financial Institutions Group and Co-Head of the Mergers and Acquisitions group for the Americas. Previously, he headed Credit Suisse First Boston's Global Financial Institutions group.

As an investment banker in the financial services sector for over 30 years, Mr. Paumgarten was an early proponent of consolidation in the industry and has participated in numerous landmark transactions including the sale of Barnett Banks to Nationsbank, the spin-off of Capital One from Signet Bank, and the sale of First Security to Wells Fargo.

Mr. Paumgarten is a director of CompuCredit Corporation, Post Properties, and the E.W. Scripps Company. He holds a B.A. in History from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA degree from Columbia University.
